President John Magufuli's salary is a third of what former president Jakaya Kikwete was reported to be earning. Tanzanian President John Magufuli has revealed that he takes home a monthly salary of $4,008 as leader of the East African country. Magufuli, who was elected president in 2015 on a pledge to tackle corruption, made the disclosure during a speech broadcast live on state television on Tuesday. "My salary is nine million (Tanzanian Shillings). I have not increased my salary and I will not increase it. Because my obligation is to serve Tanzanians first. Citizens are tired of their money getting stolen," Magufuli, nicknamed The Bulldozer for building roads in his previous post as cabinet minister, said. Beautiful 22-year-old Tanzanian actress, Elizabeth Michael ‘Lulu’ has been sentenced by a Dar es Salaam court for the death of Steven Kanumba whom she was dating until his death. The ugly incident occurred on April 7th, 2012 when Lulu was 19 years old while Kanumba was 28 years. Steven Kanumba who was a popular Tanzanian actor died after Lulu pushed him to the wall during an argument because of a call she allegedly received from another man. Residents from the slum settlement of Kurasini in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania who have been facing eviction from their homes have been working together to purchase land and build homes through a project supported by UK charity Homeless International and Tanzanian organisation Centre for Community Initiatives. In their new homes in Chamazi, the community have clean water and sanitation, legal rights to land and are setting up their own businesses. In efforts to make Chamazi a sustainable settlement and combat the spread of disease, the site is making use of reed waste water processing beds.
